Renovation of café restaurant Marengo.
Marengo was the legendary horse of Napoleon, a little nod to the history of this place. Ever since 1845 this beautiful building, with the iconic rounded facade, has housed a bar and meeting place. The building was founded specifically as a café and community centre by and for ex-combatants of Napoleon, but gradually Ghent people of all kinds – young and old, rich and poor – came together in the ‘Salon Napoleon’.
